Songwriting
My first song was written when I was nine. I’d seen my mom and older brother write songs so I just copied their behavior. As I became aware of what a gift songwriting actually is, I wanted to get better at it. Like with talking, not just babble, but become a communicator! I am continually learning and working on the craft...
The songwriting process teaches me. As topics circle around and around in my heart and head, permeated by melody and harmony, I see new things on the other side of the song.
Here are a few examples of my songs & resources to check out...
“Music is God's
gift to man,
the only art of Heaven given to earth, the only art of earth we take to Heaven.”

Worship Songs
These are songs that have been used in a local church to be sung by the congregation. It’s a real honor to write these songs because they are like seeds of Life in peoples hearts. These are songs that have sprung out of messages and/or themes that are current to the church and have been staples in the weekly worship. As a worship leader who writes , I approach these songs differently because they are for everyone to sing – not just an artist to an audience.
Theme Driven Songs
One of my favorite things is to have a specific theme or scenario to write for. Many times I’ve written songs for particular services, musicals, dramatic sketches – a variety of things. I have many more but here are a couple of examples:
Recordings
The bulk of my musical work has been ‘live’, week by week learning, writing, singing new music for people & congregations. But here are two full projects with a total of 17 original songs.
